Introductions

Meet Chicago's best young classical musicians.

Paul Karner

How did you choose your instrument?

Hey everyone we're back with more free tickets. By responding to the question of the week via the Introductions website or our voicemail (773) 279-2019 you are automatically eligible to win two tickets to see the Pilgrim Chamber players perform in Highland Park on May 18th or to the Harris Theatre on May 31st to see the grammy-award winning group Eighth Blackbird.

This week we want to know how you got started on your instrument. Did you choose it yourself? Was it your first choice? Did your parents force you against your will until you actually started liking it?

We'd love to hear what you have to say, so don't be shy. Call our voicemail any time you'd like and if you do, please leave your name and your phone number so we can get you your tickets if you win.

Well when i first wanted to join the orchestra i wanted to play the violin because, that's the typical instrument to start with. But since my older brother played the viola a while back (and failed at it), we had a extra viola lying around. Knowing my cheap parents, they didn't want to buy a new violin, rent a violin, or even buy violin strings to make the viola into a violin. So i just stuck with the viola and ended up falling in love with it.
