Audio after the jump! 14 year-old violinist Susie Koh joined us in the studios of Flashpoint Academy to perform an eclectic program ranging from Tango to gypsy-inspired music!

Biography:
Susie Koh, a 14-year old homeschooled student of Marko Dreher and Almita Vamos, began her violin studies at the Rubin Conservatory of Music (Israel). At age 7, Susie made her solo orchestral debut with the Jerusalem Symphony Orchestra. She was the grand prize winner in the YeHang International Hymn Competition, and she has won first place in the SAI String Scholarship Competition, the state and regional division competitions of the Music Teachers National Association, the Huntington University Annual Concerto Competition, and the Society of American Musicians Competition. She has performed in Carnegie Hall and at the Israel Cultural Center and the World Gloria Center in Seoul, Korea. She recently performed the Shostakovich violin concerto no. 1 with the KBS Symphony Orchestra in Korea, and in 2008-2009 she will perform again with the KBS Symphony Orchestra in Korea, at Music in the Loft, and at the Seoul Fine Arts Center. At the Music Institute of Chicago, she is a member of the Academy Chamber Orchestra and the Aurelia String Quartet, which won the bronze medal in the Fischoff National Chamber Music Competition in 2008. Susie was recently commissioned by World Vision as the “Ambassador of Hope” to create a musical outreach to benefit orphans. When she’s not practicing the violin she enjoys ballet and sports. Her dream is to perform on a Stradivarius violin.
