A rebroadcast from August of 2009: today we meet three students from Neuqua Valley High School in Naperville who make up the Roma Trio. They entered the CYSO's chamber music program this school year and for us they performed music by Schumann, Kurtag, Bruch and Mozart.

Biography:

Michael Resetar, Viola, Sophie Luo, Piano, and Katherine Kohler, Clarinet, are members of the Chicago Youth Symphony Orchestra, Encore Chamber Orchestra, and the CYSO Chamber Music Program. They attend Neuqua Valley High School in Naperville, Illinois where they play in the Wind Ensemble, Chamber Orchestra, and Symphony Orchestra. This year Sophie won the Elmhurst Symphony Concerto competition, as well as the Chicago Youth
Symphony concerto competition. She will be performing as a soloist with both groups next fall. Katherine recently won a national competition with the United States Air Force Band, Washington, DC, and performed as a soloist with them at DAR Constitution Hall in Washington in February. She was also invited to perform as a soloist with them on their spring concert tour of the Midwest in April. Michael recently was selected to play principal viola under the baton of Gustavo Dudamel. He also performed a solo recital in Aurora. The three will be performing on June 7th in Chicago at the International Chamber Artists Concert.

For the WFMT program they have been coached professionally by Todd Levy, of the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra and Santa Fe Opera, and Julie and Don DeRoche, of DePaul University and the CYSO Chamber Program.
