Meet Chicago's finest pre-college classical musicians.

This past Saturday, 98.7WFMT presented live coverage of the 2010 Performathon at the Merit School of Music in Chicago's west loop. Performathon is an annual music festival in which over 350 students from the prestigious Alice S. Pfaelzer Tuition-Free Conservatory perform continuously for hours on end in order to raise funds for their school.

We broadcast for 3.5 hours from Merit on Saturday, February 20th (only a portion of Performathon) and heard some fantastic soloists, chamber groups, large ensembles, jazz ensembles and more.

For more information about the Merit School of Music, visit Meritmusic.org

The broadcast was hosted by Introductions producer David Polk and WFMT general manager Steve Robinson, and was engineered by Eric Arunas and Don Mueller.
