Show #23: William Fremd HS Symphony Orchestra of Palatine

Members of the William Fremd High School Symphony Orchestra

We recorded the Fremd Symphony Orchestra, led by Marla Caballero, during their spring 2008 concerto competition concert and were really impressed by what we heard. The show starts off with the first movement of Grieg's Piano Concerto in A-Minor featuring Fremd junior Daniel Brottman, followed the Concertino for Flute by Cécile Chaminade performed by Sarah Finegan and a fantastic finale with George Gershwin's Rhapsody in Blue featuring Patrick Kennedy.

In this show, we also play "Quote Your Conductor," putting maestro Caballero on the hot seat! Look for that in the middle of the show.

Hi Ariel,

The Bassoon piece was composed and performed by a couple of past Introductions performers, believe it or not! Composer was Michael Oldham and bassonist was Britnney Walker (both 18). If you want, I can ask Michel and Brittney if it's ok to send to you?

This is awesome! i'm very proud of them! I was wondering though-- what is the bassoon sonata played during the conductor questions?
